Iwi Whānau Advisor and Youth Mentor
Iwi Whānau Advisors and Youth Mentors support tamariki and rangatahi with their educational goals and aspirations to reach their highest potential, in a culturally safe space, under the mantle of kaupapa Māori framework, utilising the Whānau Education Action Plan (WEAP) and MOE Student Planner.
Iwi Whānau Advisors & Youth Mentors can support with:
- Strengthening relationships with education and/or education providers
- Bilingual & biliterate rangatahi
- Career options and pathways
- Gateway Learning
- Iwi scholarship applications
- Limited-Service Volunteer/ Get Force Fit
- Tertiary Education, University Entrance, and other educational entry level requirements
- Low level attendance support
Piripono Kaimahi & Piripono Kaitautoko (Attendance and Pou Whirinaki Advisors)
Pou Whirinaki is the prevention team, collecting and analysing irregular to moderate attendance data within kura. Kaitautoko work alongside whānau and kura to increase attendance for tamariki and rangatahi.
Wānanga and Events
Wānanga and support work are facilitated to meet the needs of the community.
Wānanga and group work includes:
- Education on wellbeing
- Harakeke workshops
- Whānau Day facilitated by Whānau Ora
- Waiata workshops
